Smile. You're alive! Monday should be a day that you are full of grateful and positive energy. I always say, Hey it's Monday, it's a fresh start! Which is true. Every week, and even every day you can turn around your life and grab new, amazing opportunities.
In the book i'm reading, The Compound Effect, in chapter one, I learned that in order to succeed, you must work the hardest you ever have at EVERYTHING you do. Even if you're not good at it, show passion, dedication and perseverance and you will be successful.
On today's post, let's dig deep and follow these 5 steps in kicking Monday's butt!
1. Make a cup of tea/coffee.
If you don't drink caffeine, chug some water. But if you do, then wake up a little earlier than your alarm clock, make some coffee, then hop back in bed until it's ready. I suggest you do not put a timer on your coffee maker, because getting up to make it will get your blood flowing, and it will help you wake up, even if you do go back in bed. Having a cup of joe is my favorite time after an hour of yoga. It makes me appreciate every moment and helps me enjoy the present. Tea is good too... Preferably black tea to wake your body up!
I know I put yoga and meditation in my last blog post, but this really does turn a day around. Did you spill your coffee everywhere? Did your old coffee filter rip before you reached the trash can? Yeah that happens to me all of the time. After your cup of coffee, or even during, sit down on a mat, or on the ground, close your eyes and breath 8 counts in through the nose, and 8 counts out of your nose. Do this for as long as you want. I do it until i'm not frustrated. It's a time out for adults!
3. Read an inspiring book.
Even if it is just a few sentences, pop open a book and read a few lines of it to motivate you. I'm hoping it's not a really sad book because that would defeat the purpose! Sit quietly with that book, maybe even on your back porch and just breathe in the fresh air. Take the time to do this every morning and you will feel like a new person!
4. Put out your clothes the night before for your workout.
Putting your clothes out the night before a workout the next day will enable you to feel more motivated when you get up. I've mentioned this in a previous post, but it's SO important to get your day rolling. Even on a measly Tuesday, this works for me every time. There's no excuse at that point. Make it a cute outfit too, so you'll be even more excited to show off your cute style at the gym or on the trail :).
5. Stay humble.
Part of my job is to post on social media. Pictures of myself to inspire others, but also posts that probably annoy a lot of people. Stay true to yourself, but stay humble. Although I feel successful in helping other's reach their full potential in life, I try to stay as humble and as positive as possible. Don't gloat because you received that promotion, just be thankful! You can post it, but be appreciative rather than boisterous. Remember why you received that promotion.
I hope these 5 tips find you joy and inspiration. This blog is all about motivating you to be your best self, and I hope by reading this, that you find your center.
Until next time,
