Have you ever heard of the 4 agreements? No? Read it! It has changed my view of the world to the point of numbness. Regardless of what is happening around me, I always remember that as long as you try, you'll be OK!
On the blog today, I have 5 quick tips to turn your frown upside down! Times can get tough. Life can be unfair, and you may want to just give up at times, but I am here to let you know that life has more to offer you than a bad day.
1. Laugh out loud.
Literally an LOL. Research shows that if you start smiling, you'll start laughing, even if you're unhappy. This helps with your mood, which creates those beautiful things called endorphins that we love so much. This helps me on days when I'm taking things to personally, or when I feel anxious, I just sit there and start smiling. Try it and let me know how it goes!
2. Eat your favorite meal.
Treat yourself! On a bad day, after work or after school, pick up your favorite meal. Even if it's a big mac from McDonalds, or even a salad from your favorite salad bar, put something into your body that will make you smile. Don't worry about the consequences of eating too much fat and sodium... we can worry about that on one of the good days! That brings me to my next tip.
Exercising may seem like the last thing you want to do at the end of a bad work day, or at the end of the day period. So why not try to do it in the morning? You don't even have time to establish the day as being bad because the first thing you did was jump on a bike for an hour spin class! This will again, enhance those beautiful endorphins, and have you feeling like a million bucks! (Even if you're a little groggy from getting up so early.) This is definitely the number one thing that helps me get out of a funk!
4. Ask for a hug.
Even if you're not in a relationship, ask for a hug from someone you love. It feels so good and lets out emotions that you didn't even know were there! Going through a hard time in your family life? Ask for a hug from someone. The human touch is so important, and not even in a sexual way!
5. Realize that you are alive.
When having a bad day, this is definitely the last thing you're thinking. I'm sure you think, "UGH I hate my life" or, "This cannot get any worse!" But you're wrong. Unfortunately, somewhere out there, someone is going through something a lot worst than you are. It doesn't make it feel any better, but it makes you put what you're going through into perspective. Understand that life is precious, and it deserves to be taken care of in a nice, fun way!
And there you have it. 5 steps to make your day a better one! Take each step slow, and recognize the change that you are feeling. Trying is the first step into doing any of these steps. So if you at least try, it will make an enormous difference in your life.
Happy days, and happy weekend everyone!
